Keeping Change Alive!

President Obama came to Virginia yesterday to campaign for Deeds.  From Politico:

“I know there are a lot of folks out here, they came out in November for my campaign, they turned out to elect Tim Kaine but these sort of off-year elections, you know, sometimes people say, well you know I just went last year , I was volunteering, I already did that knocking on doors,” Obama said.

President Obama urged the crowd that the work is far from done, saying,  ”I don’t believe in can’t, I don’t believe in giving up, I don’t believe that we would turn our back on the progress that Tim Kaine has made here in Virginia.”

Now it’s your turn to keep the momentum going!

Keeping Change Alive - In the News

A new Washington Post poll shows Bob McDonnell with a widening lead. The Post credits this to a focus on issues, but are the issues YOU care about most being debated?

In our issue comparison of Deeds and McDonnell, we note that Creigh Deeds has made creating clean-energy jobs a cornerstone of his campaign. He has released a comprehensive energy plan for Virginia with clear targets for reducing the state’s energy use, ending dependence on imported energy, and reducing carbon emissions. He has committed to passing, on his first day as governor, an executive order to reduce the state government’s energy consumption by 20 percent in four years. He would also adopt mandatory renewable-energy standards and fund weatherization projects with the hope of reducing low-income households’ energy bills. To support the growth of a clean-energy economy, Deeds says, he would create a Virtual Energy Research Triangle to coordinate research and development for the next generation of energy technology, including coal sequestration.

Meanwhile McDonnell’s campaign has focused on other issues like on law enforcement, welfare reform, and cutting corporate and real estate taxes. His record suggests that these priorities would fall second to promoting business and development.Regarding transportation, McDonnell says he’d build more roads and widen highways and he’ll pay for them by diverting funds from education and public safety.

Which of these candidates is focused more on the issues that will matter most for YOUR future?
